Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 September 2026

The short version

  • We collect only what we need to run SmartPathSG and help you learn: your email, the details you choose to add, and what you do while you practise.
  • We never sell your data.
  • Things you post in public places, like Community Q&A, can be seen by anyone. Everything else is private to you and to us.
  • If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must say yes before you sign up.
  • You or your parent can ask us to show, fix or delete your data at any time. Email hello@mail.smartpathsg.com.

The rest of this page explains each point in more detail.

1. What this policy covers

SmartPathSG helps students learn, grow and succeed in school and beyond. This policy covers all of our services: the website at smartpathsg.com, our games, practice tools, Community Q&A and other pages on smartpathsg.com and its subdomains, the emails we send, and any new service we offer under the SmartPathSG name (“our services”). It explains what personal data we collect, how we use and protect it, and how we follow Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

SmartPathSG is run by its founders, and “we” in this policy means us. Some of our users are children, so we take extra care to make this policy transparent and easy to understand.

2. What we collect

Things you give us

  • Account details: your email address, and any profile details you choose to add, such as a nickname, avatar, level, school or learning goals.
  • Things you create or send: for example, your answers in practice activities, questions and posts, notes you save, reports about a mistake, and messages or feedback you send us.

Things we record as you use our services

  • Learning activity: for example, which questions you tried, whether you got them right, how long you took, your scores, streaks and progress, and things you like or save.
  • Technical and usage information: for example, the type of device and browser you use, and which pages you visit. We collect this through cookies and similar tools (see section 5).

We do not ask for your full name, phone number, home address or payment details. If a feature ever needs one of these, we will tell you what we need and why before you give it.

Our services change over time. A new feature may collect the kinds of information listed above without us changing this policy. If a feature needs a different kind of personal data, or would use your data for a purpose not described here, we will tell you first.

3. How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • run our services: create your account, sign you in, and save your work so you can pick up where you left off;
  • personalise your learning: show your progress and suggest what to practise next;
  • keep in touch: send you sign-in codes, summaries of your progress, replies and updates about things you asked or reported, notices about changes to our services, and occasional news about SmartPathSG that we think you may be interested in (to stop progress summaries or news, email us);
  • support you and keep our services safe: answer your questions, fix problems you report, check posts, and stop cheating and misuse;
  • improve our services: understand how our services are used so that we can make them better and build new ones;
  • meet our legal duties.

We may also publish or share statistics that do not identify anyone, for example how many questions students answered this week.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.

4. What other people can see

Some parts of our services are public, such as Community Q&A. Anything you post there can be read by anyone, and it may appear with the nickname you chose. Please do not use your real name or your school in your nickname, and do not put personal details in a post.

Everything else, including your email, profile, scores and practice history, is private to you and to us.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies to keep you signed in across smartpathsg.com and its subdomains. Some features also save your progress or settings in your browser’s storage, so they work even if you have not signed in.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve them. Google Analytics does not tell us who you are.

You can block cookies in your browser settings. Our services will still work, but you may need to sign in more often, and progress saved in your browser may be lost.

6. Whom we share it with

We share personal data only in these cases:

  • Service providers: we use trusted companies to run SmartPathSG. They host our websites, store our data, handle sign-in, send our emails and measure usage. They may use your data only to do this work for us, and only as much as they need to.
  • Tutors we authorise: tutors who help answer questions in Community Q&A see the questions they answer.
  • If SmartPathSG changes: if SmartPathSG becomes a company, or joins with another organisation, your data may move with it. It will still be protected under this policy, or one that protects it just as well, and we will tell you before any change to how it is used.
  • When the law requires it: for example, if a court or the police ask us for data, or if we need it to protect someone’s safety.

Our service providers may store and process data outside Singapore. When they do, we make sure your data is protected to a standard comparable to the PDPA.

7. Children and parents

Many of our users are students, and some are children.

  • Under 13: a parent or guardian must give consent before a child under 13 signs up or posts anything. This policy tells parents why we collect their child’s data and how we use it.
  • 13 to 17: students can agree to this policy themselves, as long as they understand it. If they are unsure, they should read it with a parent.
  • Parents’ rights: parents can ask to see, correct or delete their child’s data at any time, or withdraw their consent, by emailing us.

A student’s account details, progress and scores are never public. We do not use a child’s data in ways that could harm them, or to show them unsuitable content.

8. Your rights

Under the PDPA, you can:

  • ask to see the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct it;
  • withdraw your consent, and ask us to delete your account and data.

Email us and we will reply within 30 days. If you withdraw consent, we may not be able to keep your account running.

9. Security and how long we keep data

Your data is encrypted when it travels between your device and our services, and our providers encrypt it where it is stored. Only people who need it to run SmartPathSG can access it, through protected accounts.

We keep your data while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data, except anything the law requires us to keep. Statistics that do not identify you may be kept.

If a data breach might harm you, we will tell you (or your parent, if you are a child) and the authorities, as the law requires.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as SmartPathSG grows. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how we use your personal data, we will tell you before it takes effect, by email or with a notice on our services. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent again.

11. Contact us

For any question about this policy, or to use your rights above, contact us at hello@mail.smartpathsg.com.
